During the 1980’s, MAFTEC® — Mitsubishi Alumina Fiber Technology was developed by Mitsubishi Plastcs Inc. This product offered long term high or cyclic temperature operations. MAFTEC® “Polycrystalline Alumina Fibers” exhibit excellent thermal stability, resiliency, erosion resistance and mechanical strength at temperatures to 1600°C – 2912°F.

MAFTEC® is a mullite fiber. Mullite is a stable material that does not change molecularly through the temperature range, up until it melts (1850°C). The silica in MAFTEC® is contained within the structure of Mullite and is not allowed to form free silica. MAFTEC® fiber diameter averages 5 microns.

Temtek Solutions offers many possible solutions using Maftec 3000 as the product base. We offer custom Modules, Combo Modules and Econo style modules. Please see information below on our solutions using Maftec as the base product.

MAFTEC® Module
Modules that are Serpentine Folded and compressed using 100% MAFTEC® Material.

67/33 Combo Modules
Modules that are compressed with U-folds of Maftec and 1 Edge Grain strip of HTZ Blanket in the middle of the U-fold of Maftec.

50/50 Combo Modules
Modules that are compressed with interlocking U-folds of Maftec and HTZ material.

Econo Style Wrap Modules are avaialble with the following combinations:
Single Layer – Edge Grain strips of HTZ compressed with a 1” thick layer of Maftec on the Hot-face and 2 sides (3 SF of Maftec).

Double Layer – Edge Grain strips of HTZ compressed with 2” thick of Maftec on the Hot-face and 1” on 2 sides (4 SF of Maftec).

Triple Layer – Edge Grain strips of HTZ compressed with 3” thick of Maftec on the Hot-face and 1” on 2 sides (5 SF of Maftec).
